Claude Code workflows & skills for solo consultants and freelancers

Free Claude Code plugin: install three consultant skills with /plugin

A small Claude Code plugin marketplace hosted as a plain marketplace.json URL. No GitHub account or git needed: Claude Code downloads the catalog and a checksum-pinned zip over HTTPS. It holds one free plugin, solo-consultant-skills, with three draft-only skills for solo consultants and freelancers.

Install (Claude Code v2.1.224 or later)

Inside a Claude Code session:

/plugin marketplace add https://solostackkits.netlify.app/plugins/marketplace.json
/plugin install solo-consultant-skills@solo-stack-kits

Or from your shell:

claude plugin marketplace add https://solostackkits.netlify.app/plugins/marketplace.json
claude plugin install solo-consultant-skills@solo-stack-kits

Run /reload-plugins (or start a new session), then ask in plain English, for example "Who owes me money?", or call a skill directly: /solo-consultant-skills:invoice-chase. Plugin skills always carry the plugin name as a prefix.

What you get

The skills keep their data in markdown files inside your project (business/invoices.md, clients/<client>/) and create them on first use. They write drafts only and never send email. MIT licensed. Prefer single files? The same skills install with one curl each from /skills/.

Update or remove

claude plugin marketplace update solo-stack-kits
claude plugin update solo-consultant-skills@solo-stack-kits
claude plugin uninstall solo-consultant-skills@solo-stack-kits
claude plugin marketplace remove solo-stack-kits # also uninstalls its plugins

What is inside

Catalog: /plugins/marketplace.json. Plugin zip: /plugins/solo-consultant-skills-1.0.0.zip (sha256 b76c9903a4c9348fcfe21c908e7de47dd4030696acf9261262aae0bd3c90e0a9, pinned in the catalog, so Claude Code refuses a changed download). The zip holds .claude-plugin/plugin.json, skills/<name>/SKILL.md for each skill, a README and the license. Check it before installing:

curl -fsSLO https://solostackkits.netlify.app/plugins/solo-consultant-skills-1.0.0.zip
sha256sum solo-consultant-skills-1.0.0.zip
unzip -l solo-consultant-skills-1.0.0.zip

Host your own plugin marketplace without GitHub

This page doubles as a worked example. Per the Claude Code hosting docs, any static HTTPS host works:

  1. Build the plugin folder: .claude-plugin/plugin.json (only name is required) plus skills/, agents/, commands/ or hooks/. Run claude plugin validate ./my-plugin.
  2. Zip it. The plugin root can sit at the top of the zip or one folder down. Run sha256sum on the zip.
  3. Write a marketplace.json whose entries use an archive source with the zip URL and that sha256. Do not use relative paths like ./plugins/x: when users add a bare marketplace.json URL, Claude Code downloads only that file, so relative entries fail at install.
  4. Upload both files and share /plugin marketplace add https://your-site/marketplace.json.
{
  "name": "my-marketplace",
  "owner": {
    "name": "Your Name"
  },
  "plugins": [
    {
      "name": "my-plugin",
      "description": "What it does",
      "source": {
        "source": "archive",
        "url": "https://example.com/plugins/my-plugin-1.0.0.zip",
        "sha256": "<64 hex characters from sha256sum>"
      }
    }
  ]
}

Limits from the docs: the catalog must be at most 5 MiB and respond within 10 seconds; an archive at most 256 MiB within 120 seconds, at most five HTTPS-only redirects. Marketplace names such as claude-plugins-official or anything starting with claudeai- are reserved. Version a new zip file name for every release so the sha256 pin and the old file never disagree.
