Free CLAUDE.md generator for consultants and freelancers
CLAUDE.md is the file Claude Code reads at the start of every session. A good one tells it who you are, who your clients are, how you write, and what it must never do, so you stop re-explaining your business every time. Fill in what applies below and copy the result into CLAUDE.md at the root of your client-work folder (or ~/.claude/CLAUDE.md to apply it everywhere).
Everything runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere.

Tips for a CLAUDE.md that actually helps
- Keep it short. Claude reads it every session, so every line costs context. Put long reference material (rate cards, style guides) in separate files and point to them.
- Add a per-client file. Drop a small
CLAUDE.mdinside each client folder with their contact, goals, and quirks. Claude Code merges it with the root file when you work there. - Write rules as instructions, not wishes. "Draft only; never send" works better than "try to be careful with email".
- Update it when Claude gets something wrong twice. That's the signal a rule is missing.
